Hornets End Losing Streak, Defeat Pistons
The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Detroit Pistons, 87-76, at Little Caesars Arena on Monday night.

The Hornets (17-36) and the Pistons (19-37) tangled in what turned out to be a low-scoring affair, but Charlotte came out on top after a strong first quarter and never looked back. The Hornets quickly grabbed a 21-11 lead -- that was Detroit's second-lowest output in a single quarter -- and they dominated the rest of the way. The second quarter finished 26-26, and the Pistons won the third quarter by 22-19 so they still had a chance to make a comeback in the final quarter. Charlotte, however, closed the deal in the final 12 minutes with a 21-17 score and sealed the win. The Hornets won despite shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three-point range. With the win, Charlotte moved to 9-19 on the road while the Pistons fell to 11-19 at home.

Miles Bridges led the way for the Hornets with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Devonte Graham chipped in with 14 points, 11 assists and seven boards. Terry Rozier ended with 11 points and seven rebounds. Malik Monk delivered a strong performance off the bench with 17 points while adding three rebounds and three steals. Cody Zeller had six points, but he contributed 10 boards.

Thon Maker led the way for Detroit with 12 points and also added a career-high 12 boards. Bruce Brown also contributed a double-double after notching 10 points and 12 rebounds, but he also added five assists. Reggie Jackson chipped in with eight points while shooting 2-11 from the field. Christian Wood had 10 points and grabbed eight boards. Markieff Morris contributed 10 points off the bench.

Nets Come Out On Top In Thrilling Finish
The Brooklyn Nets defeated the host Indiana Pacers 106-105, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday evening.

The Nets trailed by four, with 50 seconds left, but Joe Harris tallied five quick points to give the Nets a one-point lead, with 27 seconds to go. The Pacers responded with a bucket to go up by one, with 10 seconds left on the clock, but Spencer Dinwiddie came up with the clutch basket of the night, to put the Nets up by one, for the win. This marks the sixth straight loss for the Pacers.

Eight players scored in double digits for the Nets, as Spencer Dinwiddie led the way for the Nets with 21 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and a block, in 35 minutes. DeAndre Jordan totaled 11 points, 19 rebounds and two blocks, off the bench, while Joe Harris finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists. The Nets shot 40 percent from the field, including 12-of-37 from long range.

Meanwhile, Domantas Sabonis led the Pacers with 23 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, in 38 minutes. T.J. Warren added 19 points, two assists and two steals. Doug McDermott chipped in 13 points and four rebounds, off the bench. The Pacers shot 49 percent from the field, including 7-of-30 from long range.

The Pacers (31-23) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Bucks on Wednesday. The Nets (24-28) play host to the Raptors on Wednesday.

Magic Outlasts Hawks, 135-126
The Orlando Magic defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 135-126, at Amway Center on Monday night.

The Hawks (15-40) checked into the contest fresh off a double-overtime marathon against the Knicks on Sunday, but they still had enough spring in their step to take an early 28-22 lead through the first 12 minutes. Both squads picked up the pace on the offensive end in the second, but Atlanta still led the Magic (23-31) by five points at intermission. Orlando wouldn't go away, however, making a two-point dent in their deficit in the third quarter before outscoring the visitors, 42-30, in the final period. As the final score implies, both team shot extremely well, with the Hawks' 53.4 percent success rate just edging their hosts' 52.6 percent figure.

Trae Young paced the Hawks with 29 points, complementing them with nine assists and one rebound. John Collins delivered 22 points, eight boards, two assists and one block. Dewayne Dedmon turned in 14 points, nine boards, one assist and two blocks. Kevin Huerter registered 12 points, seven assists and two rebounds. Cam Reddish and De'Andre Hunter went for 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Aaron Gordon led the Magic with 26 points, adding nine rebounds, four assists and one block. Nikola Vucevic compiled 24 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and one block. Evan Fournier supplied 22 points, three rebounds, two steals and one block. Terrence Ross poured in 21 points. Markelle Fultz finished with 13 points, eight assists, one rebound and three steals.

The Hawks next pay a visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night, while the Magic remain home and take on the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night as well.

Raptors Lock In 15th Straight Win
The Toronto Raptors defeated the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves, 137-126, at Scotiabank Arena on Monday evening.

The contest got out to a hot start, as the Raptors took a 40-36 lead into the second quarter. The Timberwolves came out strong in the second and outscored the Raptors 39-34 in the quarter, to take a one-point lead into halftime. The Raptors turned up the defense in the third quarter, as they held the Timberwolves to 19 points, while they poured in 32, to take a 12-point lead into the final frame. The Timberwolves made a run and cut it to a four-point game early in the fourth, but the Raptors reclaimed command and held control the rest of the way to secure their 15th straight win.

Pascal Siakam led the way for the Raptors with 34 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block, in 36 minutes. Kyle Lowry added 27 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal, while O.G. Anunoby totaled 25 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block. The Raptors shot 57 percent from the field, including 17-of-34 from long range.

Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 23 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block, in 37 minutes. D'Angelo Russell added 22 points, five assists and a steal, while Jarrett Culver, Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez added 15 points each. The Timberwolves shot 45 percent from the field, including 18-of-40 from long range.

The Timberwolves (16-36) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Hornets on Wednesday. The Raptors (40-14) take on the Nets in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

Bucks Topple Kings, 123-111
The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Sacramento Kings, 123-111, at Fiserv Forum on Monday night.

The Bucks (46-7) came into the contest without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was away from the team due to the birth of his child earlier in the day. His absence hardly seemed to matter early, as Milwaukee quickly took a 38-24 lead on the Kings (21-32) through the first 12 minutes. Sacramento would bounce back to outscore their hosts by a 66-50 margin over the middle periods, however, sending them into the fourth quarter with a surprising two-point edge. Then, the Bucks would open the final period with a 13-0 run over the final 2:05, establishing a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Harrison Barnes paced the Kings with 23 points, adding three rebounds, three assists and one steal. De'Aaron Fox provided 17 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and one block. Nemanja Bjelica and Bogdan Bogdanovic mustered matching 16-point tallies while pulling down eight and five rebounds, respectively. Buddy Hield delivered 15 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe co-led the Bucks with matching 28-point, eight-assist tallies while adding 11 and eight rebounds, respectively. Brook Lopez supplied 20 points, two rebounds, two assists and three blocks. Sterling Brown finished with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Wesley Matthews and Donte DiVincenzo poured in 10 points apiece.

The Kings remain on the road and face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night, while the Bucks pay a visit to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night as well.

Jazz Hold On For Third Straight Win
The Utah Jazz defeated the host Dallas Mavericks, 123-119, at American Airlines Center on Monday evening.

The Jazz got out to a strong start on the road and led 32-34 after one quarter. They carried the momentum into the second, where they outscored the Mavs by 13, to take a 21-point lead into halftime. The Mavs kept up the fight and cut it to a three-point game ate in the third, but the Jazz closed the quarter on a 17-4 run, to take a 16-point lead into the final frame. The Jazz stayed in control through the fourth and led by nine points with three minutes left. The Mavs made them play to the last whistle, but the Jazz held on to earn their third straight win.

Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with 25 points, eight rebounds, five assists and a block, in 31 minutes. Bojan Bogdanovic added 23 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Donovan Mitchell tallied 23 points, four rebounds and two assists. The Jazz shot 59 percent from the field, including 15-of-35 from long range.

Meanwhile, Tim Hardaway Jr. led the Mavericks with 33 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal, in 37 minutes. Kristaps Porzingis added 28 points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal, while Seth Curry addled 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. The Mavs shot 47 percent from the field, including 15-of-43 from long range.

The Mavs (32-22) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Kings on Wednesday. The Jazz (35-18). play host to the Heat on Wednesday.

Nuggets Defeat Spurs, 127-120
The Denver Nuggets defeated the visiting San Antonio Spurs, 127-120, at Pepsi Center on Monday.

While San Antonio held the lead for the first 40 minutes of this game, Denver was able to prevail. In fact, the Nuggets outscored the Spurs 36-26, in the third quarter and 38-27 in the fourth quarter to complete their comeback. That allowed Denver to overcome a 23-point deficit in the third quarter, going on a 15-0 run late in the fourth to get them a game-high 10-point lead with just three minutes remaining. Denver ended up shooting 56 percent from the field and 51 percent from three-point range while out-blocking San Antonio, 7-1.

The Spurs (22-31) were led by LaMarcus Aldridge, who tallied 33 points, six rebounds and five assists. Dejounte Murray accrued 14 points, six rebounds and nine assists. Bryn Forbes collected 14 points, three rebounds and four assists. Derrick White led the bench with 15 points, two rebounds and four assists. Rudy Gay and Patty Mills reached double figures in scoring off the bench too.

The Nuggets (38-16) were led by Jamal Murray, who amassed 26 points, two rebounds and six assists. Nikola Jokic accumulated 19 points, eight rebounds and 13 assists. Paul Millsap led the bench with 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Monte' Morris also provided 16 points and four assists off the bench as well.

San Antonio has to play yet another road game on Tuesday, playing the Oklahoma City Thunder. As for Denver, they return to action on Wednesday in a home matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Heat Defeat Warriors, 113-101
The Miami Heat defeated the host Golden State Warriors, 113-101, at Chase Center on Monday.

While Golden State grabbed the first lead in this game, that was the only lead they had. In fact, the Heat rode a 38-23 second quarter to a 19-point halftime lead and held the lead for the final three quarters. Ball movement was the difference, with Miami recording 36 assists to 11 turnovers and Golden State committing 16 turnovers to just 23 assists. That allowed the Heat to shoot 49 percent from the field while holding the Warriors to just 39 percent shooting. In addition, Miami took 87 shots to Golden State's 77.

The Heat (35-18) were led by Jimmy Butler, who collected 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Duncan Robinson amassed 17 points and three assists. Bam Adebayo collected 13 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Jae Crowder led the bench with 21 points, eight rebounds and three steals while Kelly Olynyk generated 12 points, six rebounds and 11 assists.

The Warriors (12-42) were led by Damion Lee and his 26 points. Andrew Wiggins totaled 18 points, two rebounds and four assists. Marquese Chriss amassed 17 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Draymond Green accumulated five points, nine rebounds and nine assists while Jordan Poole led the bench with 12 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday, with Miami staying on the road to face the Utah Jazz and Golden State remaining home to play the Phoenix Suns.

Lakers Defeat Suns, 125-100
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the visiting Phoenix Suns, 125-100, at Staples Center on Monday.

While there were four ties and 18 lead changes in the first quarter, Los Angeles won all four individual quarters in this game. In fact, the Lakers won each of the final three quarters by at least six points apiece, holding a double-digit lead for the final 19 minutes of action. Los Angeles ended up shooting 52 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range while holding Phoenix to 45 percent from the field and 36 percent from long range. In addition, the Lakers out-rebounded the Suns, 59-29.

The Suns (21-33) were led by Mikal Bridges and his 18 points, six rebounds and three assists. Devin Booker shot just 2-of-11 from the field to amass 10 points, four rebounds and five assists. Cheick Diallo generated 15 points, four rebounds and three assists while Ricky Rubio accumulated 13 points, three rebounds and five assists.

The Lakers (40-12) were led by Anthony Davis, who tallied 25 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. LeBron James collected 17 points, eight rebounds and nine assists but committed eight turnovers and went just 6-of-16 from the field. Rajon Rondo led the bench with 23 points, four rebounds and six assists. Dwight Howard also provided 14 points and 15 rebounds off the bench as well.

On deck for Los Angeles is a road matchup versus the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. As for Phoenix, they return home to play the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday for their next fixture.
