Celtics Topple Raptors, 112-106
The Boston Celtics defeated the Toronto Raptors, 112-106, at TD Garden on Friday night.

The Celtics (1-1) set a resurgent tone right from the start after a poor all-around effort in their opener against the 76ers, and they entered halftime holding a slid 50-49 lead. However, the Raptors (1-1) were able to surge ahead in the third, leaving them with a six-point edge heading into the final 12 minutes. Boston would erase that deficit and eventually finish on a 19-8 run over the final 6:30 to claim the home win.

Pascal Siakam continued his red-hot start to the season by leading Toronto with 33 points and supplementing them with eight rebounds and two blocks. Kyle Lowry furnished 29 points, seven assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block. Serge Ibaka supplied totaled 13 points, eight rebounds, one assist and three blocks. Fred VanVleet mustered just eight points on 2-for-11 shooting, while Marc Gasol managed one along with an 0-for-8 tally from the field.

Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward co-led the Celtics with matching 25-point, nine-rebound, four-assist efforts. Kemba Walker turned in 22 points, six boards, two assists, two steals and two blocks. Gordon Hayward chipped in 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Marcus Smart led the second unit with 10 points.

The Raptors next pay a visit to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night, while the Celtics pay a visit to the New York Knicks on Saturday evening as well.
