Heat Top Magic In Tight Affair
The Miami Heat defeated the Orlando Magic, 116-113, at American Airlines Arena on Wednesday evening.

The Heat (40-22) entered this game as one of the best home teams in the Eastern Conference with a 26-4 record, and they backed that up with a huge win over the Magic (27-35), even if they had to work harder than expected to get it. Miami improved to 27-4 at home this season, while the Magic fell to 11-20 on the road. Erik Spoelstra’s men got on top after the first quarter by a 30-26 score, and they improved that lead to four points at the break following a 30-29 second quarter. The Magic won both the third and fourth quarters by the same score -- 29-28 each -- and while they worked hard to complete the comeback, such wasn’t the case. Miami ended securing the win in a tight battle between two local rivals that could easily meet again during the playoffs.

Duncan Robinson led the way for the Heat since he finished with 27 points after a stellar performance from beyond the arc, as he connected nine of his 12 three-point attempts. Jimmy Butler scored just 12 points, but he filled the stat sheet after adding eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals. Bam Adebayo had 10 points, seven rebounds and four dimes. Goran Dragic added 25 points off the bench, and Kelly Olynyk had 16 points as substitute.

Nikola Vucevic was Orlando’s best player despite the loss thanks to his 22 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. Evan Fournier had 17 points, while Markelle Fultz chipped in with 14 points, six assists and two rebounds. Aaron Gordon added 11 points, nine dimes and six boards. Terrence Ross had a season-high 35 points off the bench.
