Mavs Upset Clippers To Take First Game Of Series
The Dallas Mavericks defeated the host Los Angeles Clippers, 113-103, at Staples Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Mavs jumped out to a quick start with a, 9-2, lead early, and they held on to take a, 33-30, lead into the second quarter. The Clippers came out strong in the second and led by four, with just under three minutes left in the half, but the Mavs used an, 11-2, run to close the quarter and take a five-point lead into halftime. The Mavs carried the momentum into the third, and the Clippers were unable to grab an edge through the quarter, while the Mavs pushed their lead to six, heading into the final frame. The Clippers came out strong in the fourth and rallied to a three-point lead with around six minutes left, but the Mavs took over from there, outscoring the hosts, 18-5, the rest of the way, to close out the impressive road win and take a, 1-0, series lead.

Luka Doncic led the way for the Mavs with 31 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, two blocks and a steal, in 40 minutes. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while Dorian Finney-Smith totaled 18 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal. The Mavs shot 50 percent from the field, including 17-of-36 from long range.

Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers with 26 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals, in 40 minutes. Paul George followed up with 23 points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal, while Nicolas Batum and Rajon Rondo chipped in 11 points each. The Clippers shot 44 percent from the field, including 11-of-40 from deep.

Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday in L.A.
