2020 Tournament PreviewDespite losing senior point guard Jason Bohannon early in the year due to season-ending hip surgery, this year's Hawkeye team has wildly exceeded expectations. Backcourt duties have been absorbed by the likes of Joe Wieskamp (14.4 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Connor McCaffery (6.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.9 apg), with CJ Fredrick (10.7 ppg) recently returning from an ankle injury. This guard collective has led the Hawkeyes to the fourth-best assist/FGM ratio in the nation. The heart and soul of this team lies at the center position, however. Wooden Award candidate Luka Garza has taken the conference by storm, leading the league in scoring (23.7 ppg) and finishing fourth in rebounding (9.8 rpg). He's the driving factor behind Iowa ranking fifth nationwide in KenPom's offensive efficiency metric. The team is also-battled tested, sporting a 7-7 record in Quadrant 1 and ranking fifth in KenPom's strength of schedule rating. There are some legitimate questions on the defensive end, but this team has enough depth and offensive firepower to win a game or two in The Dance.
