2019 Fantasy Outlook
Ingles put up a career-best 12.1 points over 82 contests last year, once again showcasing his durability and ability to pack the stat sheet on a nightly basis. He also finished 14th in the league in total assists by averaging 5.7 dimes, which is another career-high. There's no doubt that Ingles struggled to shoot the basketball from beyond the arc in comparison to recent years, sinking 39.1 percent of his attempts compared to a combined 44.0 percent over the prior two seasons. That said, he still averaged 2.3 made threes per matchup, and he owns an impressive 40.8 percent 3-point clip for his career, which is good enough for 20th all-time. Despite experiencing a down shooting year across the board, there's no reason to believe he won't have an opportunity to bounce back in the upcoming season, as he's expected to remain in a key role for the Jazz, though his opportunity for assists may decrease with the addition of Mike Conley. Ingles has also proven to be a fantasy asset by remaining healthy. He's played all 82 games in each of the last three seasons and has missed just four total games over his five-year career. College/International Summary

Ingles played for the South Dragons from 2006-09 in the National Basketball League in Australia. He was named the NBL Rookie of the Year for the 2006-07 season, where he averaged 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. In his final season with the Dragons, Ingles was named to the All-NBL third team. He led the team in three-point baskets (72), was second in assists per game (3.6) and third in scoring (13.1 ppg). Ingles played for the Australian National Team during the 2008 Olympics and the 2010 FIBA World Championships. He also spent time with the Spanish club CB Granada of the Liga ACB. He averaged 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists in the 2009-10 Liga ACB season. Ingles then moved on to EuroLeague, playing from 2010 to 2013 for FC Barcelona before helping Maccabi Tel Aviv to the 2013-14 championship. He started in 13 of Maccabi Tel Aviv's games and averaged 6.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists that season. Ingles was not selected in the 2009 NBA Draft and would sign with a Spanish club, CB Granada of the Liga ACB.

Expected to move back to top unit
FUtah Jazz
May 20, 2020
Ingles is expected to slot in as the Jazz's starting small forward when the NBA season resumes with Bojan Bogdanovic set to undergo season-ending wrist surgery, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ingles has started 37 games this season, but he had come off the bench for the Jazz's final seven games before the NBA went on hiatus. With Bogdanovic now out of the picture, however, Ingles should slot into a starting role on the wing, while Royce O'Neale likely bumps over to power forward. Both Ingles and O'Neale could absorb some of Bogdanovic's minutes, but reserve forward Georges Niang may see the biggest uptick in playing time with a key rotation player sidelined. In any case, a move to the starting five should prove beneficial for Ingles, who has been far better statistically in that capacity rather than coming off the bench. Over those 37 starts, Ingles is averaging 11.2 points, 6.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 31.6 minutes per contest.

2018

Building off of a 2017-2018 campaign in which he started 81 games and played in all 82, Ingles did one better in 2018-19. The Aussie started every contest and further established himself as a reliable and versatile player for the Jazz. This was the third season in a row in which Ingles appeared in all 82 games. The 31-year-old settled in as a secondary scoring option during the year, finishing fourth on the team with 12.1 points per game. For the second straight year, Ingles hoisted more than 5.7 three-point attempts per game, and he shot 39.1 percent from behind the arc. He finished with a total of 189 made 3-pointers, which was one ahead of teammate Donovan Mitchell and good for 14th in the league. Ingles' shooting ability made him a good floor spacer around slashers Mitchell and Ricky Rubio, as well as inside presence Rudy Gobert. "Slow Mo Joe" also fit in well with the team's defensive identity and helped push the Jazz to second in the league's defensive rankings. For the third straight year, Ingles averaged more than a steal per game, and the veteran garnered two votes for the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. Adding to his well-rounded game, Ingles once again averaged right around four rebounds per game. He also made a nice jump in assists, going from 4.8 per game in 2017-18 to 5.7 per game in 2018-19, which was good for second on the team behind Rubio.

2017

Ingles played in all 82 games and made 81 starts for the Utah Jazz during the 2017-2018 season. The forward averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game -- that latter mark was a career high for the Australia native. Ingles scored a season-high 24 points as part of a 115-96 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Feb. 11. He finished with a career-high 10 assists four times during the season. Ingles also finished with a double-double in each of those performances. In the postseason, he started a career-high 11 playoff games. In Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals, he scored a playoff career-high 27 points as part of a Jazz win over the Houston Rockets via a 116-108 score. In the game, he also netted a career-high seven three-point field goals. For the season, he finished with the 10th most made three-point field goals with 204. Ingles was also fourth in the league in terms of three-point field goal percentage as he made .440 of his attempts.

2016

Ingles enjoyed a breakout 2016-17 season, the first of three consecutive years in which he played in all 82 games. A Nov. 14 matchup against the Grizzlies crystallized his development. That night, Ingles scored a career-high 20 points while contributing four rebounds and two assists. He was at his best on Dec. 8 against Golden State, setting a new career high with 21 points while accounting for five rebounds and three assists. Ingles continued his hot play down the stretch. On March 27, he scored 19 points and grabbed four rebounds in a win over the Pelicans. Ingles followed up his stellar regular season with the first 11 playoff appearances of his career, including an incredible 11-assist showing against the Clippers on April 23. The Jazz made it to Round 2, ultimately falling to the Warriors.

2015

Joe Ingles made 81 appearances for the Utah Jazz in his second NBA season, starting twice. He grew into a valuable player for the offense, scoring 10 points and grabbing three rebounds in a 21-point win over Indiana in the third game of the season. Ingles was even better against the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 26, scoring 14 points, grabbing three rebounds and dishing out an assist in a close five-point loss. Ingles enjoyed lots of success against teams from Los Angeles, contributing 10 points and coming down with two rebounds in a 27-point win over the Lakers on Jan. 16. He put together another solid effort in the last game of the season on April 13, scoring 12 points and tying a season-high mark with four assists in another matchup versus the Lakers. Ingles finished the year averaging 4.2 points and 1.9 rebounds a game for a Jazz team that finished in ninth place in the Western Conference, its best mark in three years.

2014

Ingles spent his first NBA season learning the ropes with the pros, surrounded by a talented mix of veterans and stars on the Utah Jazz including Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter and Steve Novak. Ingles made his NBA debut on Opening Night, Oct. 29 against Houston and got off one field-goal attempt in just over four minutes of play. He gave the NBA a glimpse of the future on Nov. 9 against Detroit, scoring 10 points and grabbing three rebounds to help the Jazz escape from the jaws of defeat by a single point. On Dec. 20 against Charlotte, Ingles had the best game of his young career. He would record 13 points and pull down four rebounds in just 16 minutes of play. Ingles grew more comfortable down the stretch, playing his best basketball as the season drew to a close. In a March 23 matchup against Minnesota, Ingles scored 18 points and grabbed a pair of rebounds across 34 minutes. He averaged 7.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists over the season's last 20 games, which included six starts. Across the entire campaign, Ingles posted per-game averages of 5.0 points, 2.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
2015
Through his first three years in the league, Ingles had drawn 60 starts and seen 20.2 minutes per game. That changed in 2017-18, as Ingles started all but one of his 82 appearances and garnered 31.4 minutes per contest. He’s turned into one of the league’s top three-point marksmen, shooting 44.0 percent from deep over the past two seasons and ranking 10th in made threes last season. While he racked up just 11.5 points per game last year, Ingles’ all-around skillset and nearly spotless health (four missed games in his career) has turned him into a true Fantasy asset, as he also averaged 4.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals. He has occasional big-game potential as well, posting four double-doubles (points, assists) and seven games with at least three steals in 2017-18. The Jazz didn't make any threatening additions in the offseason, so it seems safe to assume Ingles will have the same role this season.
Ingles, appropriately nicknamed “Slow Mo Joe”, makes up for what he lacks in athleticism through craftiness and three-point marksmanship. Though he started just 26 of the 82 games he appeared in last season, he earned himself a four-year, $52 million extension over the summer by being one of the most reliable cogs in the Jazz machine. His ability to play shooting guard through power forward at 6-foot-8 gave him plenty of opportunites to make an impact off the bench, as he posted 7.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals across 24.0 minutes per game. Ingles also shot 45.2 percent from the field and made 1.5 threes per game at a blistering-hot 44.1 percent clip. With Gordon Hayward no longer in the fold, Ingles will likely see an increased workload, possibly topping 30 minutes per game. The Jazz are very new-look heading into next season and it’s tough to tell how much the team will lean on Ingles, though it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which his usage rate and workload both decline. As a result, Ingles’ Fantasy stock will almost undoubtedly rise for the 2017-18 campaign. He doesn’t have much star potential, but has shown an ability to accumulate a nice grab bag of stats on a regular basis, making him a solid mid-tier Fantasy option.
Ingles is coming off an unexpected rookie season where he started in 32 games and ultimately averaged 21 minutes per outing after a total of 79 appearances for the Jazz. It took significant injuries to both Alec Burks (shoulder) and Rodney Hood (foot) for Ingles to join the starting five, but he excelled during his time on the court, which earned him a two-year contract in the offseason and leaves him with an outside shot of being one of coach Quin Snyder's five starters when the season starts anew this October. The newfound health of Burks and Hood could prevent that from manifesting, however, but Ingles helped the Jazz to a 16-16 record during the games where he started, which was a slight improvement since the Jazz ended the year at 38-44. Although, the Australian has seemingly more value as a glue guy than anything else, finishing his first year in the NBA with averages of just 5.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.1 blocks, and 0.9 three pointers. Looking ahead, he'll most likely defer to Burks and Gordon Hayward while competing for playing time with the likes of Rodney Hood and Elijah Millsap. Regardless of how the season shakes out for Ingles, he's lumped into that small handful of players who are an asset to the team but who don't provide much in the way of box score figures at the end of the night.
