Wizards Make Trip South to Tangle With Heat
The Washington Wizards take on the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena on Friday.

The Wizards (7-13) have established a reputation for fast play, plenty of offense and highly suspect defense over their first 20 games. Washington has struggled to keep up with opponents and checks into Friday's contest with losses in five of their last seven contests. However, one of their two wins during that span came their last time on the court, when they managed a surprising 119-113 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night. Rai Hachimura led the way with 27 points, adding seven rebounds and two steals. Bradley Beal provided a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double that also included four assists. Davis Bertans poured in 25 points off the bench, while Ish Smith chipped in 19 points, eight assists and one rebounds.

The Wizards will be without Thomas Bryant (foot), C.J. Miles (wrist) and Jordan McRae (finger) for Friday's game.

The Heat (15-6) have been one of the league's most pleasant surprises through the first month-plus of the season, and they'll come into Friday's contest looking to preserve a perfect 8-0 home mark. Miami also checks with four victories in its last six contests overall, but they'll be looking to rebound from a 112-93 shellacking at the hands of the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Jimmy Butler paced the Heat with 37 points, adding six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Kelly Olynyk supplied 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal. Justise Winslow and Duncan Robinson generated matching 10-point tallies while pulling down seven and five rebounds, respectively.

The Heat will be without Goran Dragic (groin) for Friday's game. Winslow (back) will carry a questionable tag.

Friday's game marks the first of four meetings between the Wizards and Heat this season. Miami won the 2018-19 season series by a 3-1 margin.
