Laney missed most of the 2022 campaign after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, but she returned to action in 2023 and appeared in every game while serving exclusively as a starter despite the significant acquisitions the Liberty made ahead of the season. Laney didn't have quite the same statistical success that she had in 2020 and 2021, but she still posted respectable averages of 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 30.0 minutes per game. The 30-year-old doesn't have the same upside that some of her superstar teammates possess, but she proved last season that she can still be a reliable fantasy option as a complementary piece in New York. Jonquel Jones will be back with the team in 2024, which should limit Laney's role. However, Laney should be a reliable mid-round fantasy target if she can remain healthy once again this year. ANALYSIS
After appearing in just nine games a season ago, Laney returned to the starting lineup for New York in 2023 and started in all 40 games while serving as a strong contributor for the Liberty throughout the year. Laney boosted New York offensively, notably from three, also stepping up defensively with her highest steals mark since the 2020 campaign. Laney signed a contract extension during the 2023 season, so she will return as a key piece to the Liberty in 2024 and beyond.

Laney appeared in just nine games last season after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in June and recovering in August. She started her final five appearances and averaged 12.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 25.2 minutes - significant decreases from her 2021 averages of 16.8 points, 5.2 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 28.3 minutes. While some of her steps back can be attributed to injury, her role could remain reduced this season. The Liberty had an excellent offseason, notably adding Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Courtney Vandersloot. With that in mind, it may be tough for Laney to reach the same heights she did in 2021 and 2020.
Laney underwent a cleanup procedure for a torn meniscus following the 2021 campaign but she's expected to be available for the start of the 2022 season. During her first season with New York, the fourth-year wing started all 32 games and averaged a team-high 16.8 points and a career-high 5.2 assists per game. If healthy by the start of the season, Laney figures to be a go-to playmaker for the Liberty in 2022 and is certainly capable of matching her production from last season.
