Knighton announced on social media Wednesday that he's retiring from professional soccer, and he will now begin his coaching career with New England's youth academy.

Knighton is ending a 16-year career in which he kept 19 clean sheets across 85 MLS appearances throughout stints with the Timbers, the Revolution and the Whitecaps, and he won the 2021 Supporters' Shield as the backup to Matt Turner in goal for New England. The 37-year-old will now join the Revs' academy coaching staff.
