Sheldon Creed

26-Year-Old Driver
Joe Gibbs Racing
2024 Fantasy Outlook
The silly season gave us a few moves last year. Creed jumping from Richard Childress Racing to Joe Gibbs Racing was one of the more highlighted moves. The 25-year-old talent followed a successful truck series career with two solid seasons racing with RCR in Xfinity. While Creed didn't nab any victories during his time at RCR, he did compile 28 Top-10 finishes and would slot 14th- and seventh- in the driver points the last two campaigns. The move to JGR's flagship No. 18 Toyota shows the confidence his new boss has in his talents. Creed will be paired with Sam McAulay at crew chief and the two will set about the business of winning races and competing for the 2024 championship. Those are high goals, and some are attainable. However, we will need to see a full season of Creed in a JGR Toyota before ultimate potential can be reached. Read Past Outlooks
Third at Phoenix Raceway
XFINITY Series
March 9, 2024
Creed finished third in the Call811.com Every Dig. Every Time. 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway.
ANALYSIS
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver ran a smart race Saturday at the Phoenix short track. Creed would bounce in-and-out of the Top 10 during this 200-lap battle. In the closing laps he'd get good track position by passing Austin Hill and then wage a breathless battle with Jesse Love in overtime to fall just short at the line and finish an impressive third-place. It was Creed's third Top-5 finish of the season.

Creed had a nice rookie season in the Xfinity Series last year. The 25-year-old driver grabbed four Top-5 and 13 Top-10 finishes with the No. 2 RCR team to finish the year 14th-place in the final driver standings. Creed would have a close call with victory lane at Darlington, finishing second-place, but that's about as close as the young driver would come to winning. Creed will be back for another season with Richard Childress Racing and by all accounts the team is returning mostly intact, including major primary sponsor, Whelen. Although this is just his second full season in the Xfinity Series, the young driver will be expected to take some steps in development. Finding victory lane will be tough once again, but Creed will need to increase his Top 10 totals if he hopes to keep this seat going forward.
Creed is making the move from the Camping World Truck Series to the Xfinity Series in 2022. The 2020 truck series champion signed late last year to take over RCR's No. 2 Chevrolet for the upcoming season. The 24-year-old prospect had accomplished all he could in that division of NASCAR, and it was time to move up. With just four prior starts in this division, Creed will experience some learning curve headwinds this season. Still, there's little doubt about Creed's talent or the strength of this race team. Myatt Snider struggled in this car at times in 2021, but that should not be a problem for Creed. This is the same team that propelled Tyler Reddick to six victories and the Xfinity Series championship in 2019.
The young GMS Racing talent was the irresistible force that no one saw coming in 2020. In just his second full season of Camping World Truck Series competition, Creed stormed to five victories and 13 Top-10 finishes to take the crown. He would have to race hard over those final three races of last season, winning two of those, to upset the other championship contenders. For Creed's next act, he will work to defend that championship in 2021 and build on last season's performance. He and crew chief, Jeff Stankiewicz, really seemed to click over the final third of last season. The No. 2 GMS Racing team has all the momentum heading into the new season, and it's clear that Creed has the talent to take them a long way.
Creed returns for a second full-season effort in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. He will once again race in the No. 2 Chevy Silverado of GMS Racing. The 22-year-old Californian nabbed four Top-5 and 11 Top-10 finishes in a somewhat uneven rookie campaign in 2019. Creed did show some improvement though during the second half of the season. He grabbed a pair of runner-up finishes at Eldora and Michigan during a scintillating summer hot streak. Creed grabbed four Top-5 and six Top-10 finishes during a six-race string between August and October. It was a great way to round out the season and point to the future. Creed will once again be paired with crew chief, Jeff Stankiewicz, and continue the good work that they accomplished last year.
