Sights set on rematch

Lobov currently owns the bragging rights as he defeated Knight in a unanimous-decision in their Bare Knuckle FC debuts back in June. Knight left with a bitter taste in his mouth and challenged Lobov to a rematch in which he eagerly accepted. The two are expected to fight in November in Boston although no official date or event has been scheduled as of yet.

Lobov defeated Paulie Malignaggi via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 6 on Saturday in Tampa, Florida.
ANALYSIS
In the promotion's most hyped fight to date, Lobov put an end to a long-time rivalry that began when Malignaggi was a sparring partner with teammate Conor McGregor. While Malignaggi is clearly the more accomplished boxer -- which was evident early on -- Lobov outlasted him in the five-round affair. After being unable to find his range in the first two rounds, Lobov got it going after that, which may have been helped by reports of Malignaggi suffering a broken hand in the second. The third round saw Lobov connect big for the first time, and the Irishman was able to carry that momentum into a fast-paced Round 4. Lobov continued to lead the dance in the fifth and final frame, and was ultimately able to earn the favor of the judges. While Lobov left the UFC on a three-fight losing streak, he's been able to find success and notoriety on his own, which could open the door for a return to MMA down the road.

Joins fighting startup league

Fails to keep up with Michael Johnson at UFC Moncton
Lobov lost to Michael Johnson via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Lobov came out with his trademark style. He kept his hands down and tried to walk his opponent down. However, Johnson was too skilled to fall into the trap. He scored continuously with his jabs and straights. Lobov occasionally landed strikes, but he was never able to land his power shots clean. In order to win this fight, he would likely need to stop Johnson, and he never came close. With the loss, Lobov falls to 14-15-1 as a professional.
