Cut after third straight loss
LightweightOther
November 15, 2021
Worthy revealed Saturday in a post on his personal Instagram account that he's been released by the UFC.
ANALYSIS
Worthy's run with the promotion comes to an end less than a month after he suffered his third consecutive loss to drop his career record to 16-9-0. The 35-year-old lightweight fighter began his tenure in the UFC with an upset TKO victory over Devonte Smith at UFC 241 in August 2019 and was victorious again his return to the Octagon just under a year later. Since defeating Luis Pena in June 2020, however, Worthy has dropped bouts to Ottman Azaitar, Jamie Mullarkey and Jai Herbert in relatively uncompetitive fashion.

Third straight knockout loss
LightweightOther
October 23, 2021
Worthy lost to Jai Herbert via TKO (punches) at 2:47 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
A virtual unknown upon joining the UFC in August 2019, Worthy began his run with surprising back-to-back stoppage victories over Devonte Smith and Luis Pena. The roof has caved in on Worthy since, and it has happened in spectacular fashion. Saturday's loss was the third straight first-round knockout defeat for "The Death Star." Worthy is a one-dimensional brawler, and that style of fighting simply doesn't work if you possess a questionable chin. Stranger things have happened, but considering the overwhelming fashion of his three recent losses, the odds are against Worthy receiving a fourth opportunity with the company.
Matchup with Jai Herbert on tap
LightweightOther
October 4, 2021
Worthy (16-8-0) is scheduled to face Jai Herbert (10-3-0) in a lightweight fight set for Oct. 23 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Worthy will be looking to put an end to a two-fight losing streak as he returns to the Octagon for the first time since March. Before taking losses to Ottman Azaitar and Jamie Mullarkey, Worthy had emerged victorious in his first two bouts with the promotion.
Another first-round KO loss
LightweightOther
March 27, 2021
Worthy lost to Jamie Mullarkey via KO (punches) at 0:46 of Round 1 at UFC 260 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
After looking like an unstoppable force in his first two fights with the UFC, Worthy now finds himself in deep trouble following back-to-back first-round knockout defeats. His chin suddenly appears extremely vulnerable, and that's a serious problem for a guy who prefers to engage in senseless brawls. Worthy was unable to handle a quick left hook from Mullarkey that left him on wobbly legs and effectively ended the fight right there. Set to turn 35 years of age this coming October, there is an overwhelming likelihood that we have already seen the best best Worthy has to offer inside the Octagon.
Added to UFC 260 card

February 16, 2021
Worthy will take on face Jamie Mullarkey at UFC 260 on March 27, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Worthy lasted only 1:33 into his fight versus Ottman Azaitar before having it called via TKO (punches). That marked the first loss of Worthy's UFC career thus far, but he will get an opportunity to get back on track against a fighter in Mullarkey who is looking for a jumpstart win after a pair of losses in each of his first two UFC fights. Worthy sports an identical reach as his opponent but does yield an inch of height. He will likely aim to keep things upright, while Mullarkey, who has eight successful takedowns in his first two fights, will likely look for opportunities to take it to the mat.
Suffers first UFC defeat

September 12, 2020
Worthy lost to Ottman Azaitar via TKO (punches) at 1:33 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
In a stand-up banger between two guys with a whole bunch of power, Worthy got the worse of it. He ate a big combination from Azaitar and countless follow-up strikes before referee Herb Dean had seen enough and stepped in. Worthy was furious with the stoppage, but he clearly wasn't properly defending himself. Worthy joined the UFC in August 2019 with zero hype and managed to win his first two fights before Saturday's setback. Worthy's power is entirely legitimate, but his brawling style figures to lead to plenty of ups and downs along the way.
