Uses ground game to secure win
Carnelossi defeated Istela Nunes via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:57 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Carnelossi had a big third round and it was needed, as she was behind on one scorecard and tied on the other two entering the final frame. Carnelossi had some issues on the feet in this fight, but her grappling was the great equalizer. She landed 5-of-7 takedowns attempts, good for 7:04 worth of control time. They are both massive numbers for a bout which lasted less than 13 minutes. The Brazilian has been known as a stand-up fighter throughout the course of her career, so it was nice to see her showcase some different skills in order to secure the win in this one. Carnelossi has now won two straight since being knocked out by Angela Hill in her company debut in September 2019.

Victorious in UFC 261 opener
Carnelossi defeated Na Liang via TKO (punches) at 1:28 of Round 2 at UFC 261 on Saturday in Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
It didn't come easy. Carnelossi started slowly and was clearly behind for the majority of Round 1 before Na's gas tank completely evaporated and allowed the Brazilian to regain control of the fight. Carnelossi kept up the pressure and had Na in dire straits in the final seconds of the first frame before dispatching her with relative ease early in Round 2. Carnelossi has lost just twice in her career, to Angela Hill in her first UFC bout back in September 2019 and to Amanda Ribas in her first pro bout way back in September 2014. She has some potential and is worth keeping an eye on in a relatively thin 115-pound women's division.
