Stoppage win after weight miss
FlyweightUFC
February 3, 2024
Carolina defeated Julija Stoliarenko via TKO (punches) at 4:52 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It would have been a solid performance from Carolina had she not missed weight by three pounds Friday morning. It marked the second time in her UFC run she struggled with the scale, and it's officially something to keep an eye on moving forward. Inside the Octagon, Luana stuffed 4-of-5 Stoliarenko takedown attempts and closed with a ridiculous 138-21 edge in total strikes landed. Carolina doesn't hit hard and relies on volume to be successful, as we saw here. Unfortunately, none of that will matter unless she gets the weight-cutting issues under control.

Carolina will fight Julija Stoliarenko at a UFC event scheduled for Feb. 3, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Upsets debut Ivana Petrovic
FlyweightUFC
July 1, 2023
Carolina defeated Ivana Petrovic via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Carolina continues to outperform expectations, putting forth reasonably solid performances in fights in which very few people are giving her a chance to win. She by no means overwhelmed the debuting Petrovic in this one, but Carolina was able to use her large frame to rack up 5:45 worth of control time, while her output in the striking game also helped pave the way to victory. The Brazilian improves to 4-3 in her first seven UFC bouts with the win.

Hangs tough in split decision loss
FlyweightUFC
March 18, 2023
Carolina lost to Joanne Wood via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 286 on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
It was a perfectly reasonable performance from Carolina on the heels of her lopsided knockout defeat to Molly McCann 364 days ago. Luana has an excellent frame for the division at 5-foot-7 and is tough as nails. She's repeatably displayed a willingness to stand in the pocket and trade with her opposition, but she lacks the technical skill to string together victories. You're going to get an honest effort from Carolina each and every fight, and while her 3-3 record is nothing to write home about, she has some value as roster depth for a company that holds an event most every week.
