Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Dinos at Bears

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

NC Dinos (10-1) at Doosan Bears (7-4)

Tuesday, May 19, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected Starters

RHP Mike Wright (1-0, 2.45 ERA) vs RHP Lee Young-ha (1-0, 2.38 ERA)

Game Preview

This contest sees a battle between two of the best teams in the KBO, with the league-leading Dinos traveling to meet the defending-champion Bears. The Dinos have been a very balanced team, ranking third in runs per game and first in runs allowed, while the Bears have combined the league's best hitting with the league's worst pitching. American Mike Wright takes the hill for the visitors. He never found much success at the MLB level, struggling to a 6.00 ERA in 258 innings, but the mere fact that he has MLB experience likely makes him one of the better pitchers in the KBO. He's certainly looked that way through his first two starts, striking out 11 while walking three and allowing just three runs in 11 innings of work. Opposing him for the Bears will be 22-year-old Lee Young-ha. Lee recorded a strong 3.64 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP last season and has looked good on the surface this year, allowing just three earned runs in 11.1 innings, but his six strikeouts and eight walks are both quite poor. He didn't strike out many hitters last season, either, despite his strong ERA, recording a low 13.0 percent strikeout rate.

Injuries

Mo Chang-min, Dinos - 10-Day IL - Shoulder

May 12 - Mo will miss the next two weeks as a result of his shoulder injury, KBO Analyst Jin-Hyeok Jang reports. Mo sat out NC's last game Sunday after injuring his shoulder in the club's previous game Friday, and it turns out he will miss extended time beyond that. Lee Won-jae, as well as another player or two, should see more action in Mo's absence.

Top Picks

Lee Young-ha, Bears: Both pitchers look talented, and both face rather frightening offenses. The decision would be a difficult one under ordinary circumstances, but with Lee costing just seven credits, half of Mike Wright's 14-credit price tag, he appears to be the obvious choice.

Jose Fernandez, Bears: Lee's cheap price allows you to load up on the Bears' expensive hitters. Fernandez's absurd .479/.519/.729 slash line makes him the best captain option out of the bunch, but it's hard to go wrong with any of his similarly-talented teammates.

Kim Jae-hwan, Bears: Kim makes a strong case for captaincy as well, as he leads the team with four homers and 14 RBI. If the Bears' dominant left-handed trio of Fernandez, Oh Jae-il and Kim are able to generate offense against the right-handed Wright, Kim should have plenty of opportunities to drive in more runs in this one.

Na Sung-Bum, Dinos: Na is nearly always a strong captain option for a Dinos-centered lineup, and a Dinos-centered lineup is nearly always a wise choice. While this article recommends a Bears-focused lineup for this contest, due primarily to Lee Young-ha's cheap price, Na is still worth including, as he's hit four homers and scored 11 times through 11 games.
