Latest Fantasy Rumors
Won't play in Worlds
Mikkola doesn't intend to play for Finland in the 2023 IIHF World Championship, per Colin Stephenson of Newsday.
ANALYSIS
Mikkola has completed his one-year, $1.9 million contract, and it would be risky for him to participate in the tournament right before he's set to become an unrestricted free agent. He had a goal, six points, 58 PIM, 151 hits and 106 blocks in 81 regular-season appearances in 2022-23. Mikkola also contributed two assists in seven playoff outings.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2018
Mikkola made his NHL debut in 2019-20, skating in five games and recording an assist with the Blues. He added 14 points in 48 contests with AHL San Antonio, which showed that the Finnish defenseman doesn't quite have the scoring touch necessary for everyday NHL playing time. In 2020-21, he's likely to either end up in the minors or on the Blues' taxi squad, as Robert Bortuzzo and Carl Gunnarsson are expected to share the No. 6 spot in the defense corps. Fantasy managers can avoid Miikola until he shows a bit more on the scoresheet.
