Sorensen (undisclosed) produced an assist and 10 PIM in Friday's 5-2 win over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Sorensen had a helper on Patrick Marleau's go-ahead goal in the first period. After that, it was fight night for Sorensen, who twice dropped the gloves with Andreas Athanasiou, including once at the end of the game. The 29-year-old Sorensen isn't known for his toughness -- he has just 16 PIM in 25 outings after Friday's bouts. He's added five points, 26 shots on net and a minus-3 rating this year.

Gaining interest from Flames
RWSan Jose Sharks  Free Agent
March 20, 2021
Sorensen is gaining interest from the Flames, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Sorensen has struggled with the Sharks this year, recording just three points in 16 appearances. The Swedish winger had a career-high 30 points in 2018-19, but declined to 18 points last year. If a trade to the Flames materializes, Sorensen would likely have to settle for a bottom-six role, although the Flames' forward depth is weakest at his natural right wing position.

2017
Sorensen took a step back in 2019-20 with just 18 points in 66 games compared to the 30 points he accrued in 82 outings in 2018-19. Regression played a role last year -- Sorensen shot only 9.0 percent after converting at a 17.0 percent clip the year before. Expect the Swede to level off somewhere around 12-to-13 percent this year, which could lead to a 10-goal, 25-point campaign. He's not likely to see more than third-line minutes, but Sorensen has shown in the not-too-distant past that he can produce in a limited role. He's also usually good for about a hit per game.
Sorensen logged his first full NHL season at the ripe age of 26 in 2018-19, totaling 17 goals and 30 points while posting a plus-10 rating in 80 contests with San Jose. The Swedish winger will return to a bottom-six role with the Sharks in 2019-20, and although it's possible that he'll continue to improve in his second full campaign, it's also possible that he'll stagnate or even regress. In other words, Sorensen is a bit of an unknown commodity heading into the upcoming season, so fantasy owners may want to pass him over in favor of a player with a longer track record or higher upside (or both) in the last few rounds of this year's drafts.
Sorensen only appeared in 32 games with the Sharks in 2017-18, totaling five goals and seven assists while averaging just 10:09 of ice time over that span. The 26-year-old winger was impressive in the playoffs, racking up four goals and five points in 10 contests, but there's no reason to expect that success will carry over into the 2018-19 regular season. Sorensen's lack of offensive production and minor role in San Jose will once again keep him off the radar in all but the deepest of season-long fantasy formats.
Transitioning from European hockey to the North American landscape has been a relatively seamless process for Sorensen, who the Sharks nabbed in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 43 games with the AHL's San Jose Barracuda last season, accumulating 17 goals and 17 assists to mirror the offensive output he had with Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Hockey League in 2015-16. Evidently confident in his abilities, the Sharks unleashed Sorensen for 19 regular-season contests and the winger kicked in two points in six games in the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs -- despite averaging fewer than 11 minutes per affair. Since the Sharks share a rink with their minor-league affiliate, temper expectations for Sorensen as he's likely to shuffle between the NHL and AHL a fair amount in the upcoming season.
