ANALYSIS
Corrado last appeared in an NHL game with the Penguins during the 2017-18 campaign, logging just five contests. Since being drafted by the Canucks in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Draft, the blueliner saw action in 76 contests for Vancouver, Toronto and Pittsburgh in which he tallied three goals and five helpers. At this point, the 27-year-old has probably played his final game in the NHL and figures to close out his career overseas.

Corrado appeared in 15 games last season for the Canucks, recording one goal and a minus-4 rating. The 21-year-old blueliner spent most of last season with AHL Utica, where he notched six goals and 17 points in 59 games. With a deep defense in Vancouver, Corrado will be challenged to crack the Canucks’ roster this upcoming campaign. He has gushing potential, though, and could very well inch his way into a roster spot. Corrado is a very strong skater who could find himself on Vancouver’s third defensive pairing at some point this season.
Prior to a surprise late season promotion to the Canucks, Corrado spent most of the 2012-13 season at the OHL level. Based on his point production (45 points in 69 games) in the OHL last season, it would be easy to label Corrado an offensive-minded blueliner, but his defensive game has improved greatly over the past couple seasons. He doesn’t project as a power-play quarterback, but Corrado is a very good skater with the ability to move the puck, giving him top-four upside. The 20-year-old defenseman could make a serious run at a roster spot in training camp and possibly slide in to the third pairing for the Canucks at some point this season.
Corrado was selected by the Canucks in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old blueliner spent the majority of the 2011-12 season with Sudbury of the OHL before getting a late-season promotion to Chicago of the AHL. He’s fast with good defensive instincts and has a chance to develop into a top-four option down the road. He’ll probably never be a big scorer from the blue line, but he could develop into a decent two-way option once he gets more seasoning in the minors.
