Competing for roster spot
WRNew Orleans Saints
June 30, 2020
Carr (ankle) will be competing for a roster spot as a depth wideout in training camp, Larry Holder of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old caught one pass for nine yards in six games last season, and he went down with an ankle injury in November and subsequently required surgery. Carr has appeared in 21 games with New Orleans over the past three seasons, and he'll be in competition with Krishawn Logan, Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Emmanuel Butler, among others, to round out the team's receiving corps in 2020.

Last year, in Carr's second NFL season since joining New Orleans as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern, the 6-foot-1 wideout registered the first two starts of his career. In those two contests, he compiled a combined two receptions for 20 yards with zero touchdowns. Each of his receiving scores came in games in which he did not start -- Nov. 18 and Nov. 22 against the Eagles and Falcons, two of the bottom six pass defenses last year. He fielded 23 percent of the Saints' offensive snaps overall, and may remain near that number with the team having retained mostly the same receiving corps from 2018.
After going undrafted out of Northwestern in 2017, Carr cracked the Saints' Week 1 roster last season, but was only active for two games during his rookie campaign. However, with the Saints cutting ties with both of their top two slot options from last season in Brandon Coleman and Willie Snead, the door is open for Carr to take on a more meaningful role with the first-team offense. Carr, who logged 90 catches for 1,247 yards and 12 TDs in 13 games as a senior at Northwestern last season, profiles as a slot receiver with solid size (6-1, 194 pounds) and quickness.
Carr, who logged 90 catches for 1,247 yards and 12 TDs in 13 games as a senior at Northwestern last season, profiles as a slot receiver with solid size (6-1, 194 pounds) and quickness. After being waived by the Patriots in final roster cut-downs, Carr was claimed on waivers by the Saints. He'll need to to learn the offense, but any role in a Drew Brees-helmed offense can potentiality yield fantasy dividends.
