Tampa Bay cut Adams on Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Adams could be a candidate to rejoin the Buccaneers via the practice squad, depending on how the rest of the tight-end room shakes out. Adams didn't log any NFL action last season and only suited up for one game with the Texans back in 2019.

Adams landed a spot on the roster following a preseason in which he was the most productive tight end in camp. He's one of five tight ends to claim a roster spot, though Kahale Warring (concussion) is not expected to see the field immediately. Given that five, or even four, tight ends are uncommon in today's NFL, expect some kind of winnowing to occur.
Adams is vying for a spot as the team's third tight end behind Rhett Ellison and Evan Engram. Adams is a good athlete and could carve out a modest role should anything happen to Engram, as Ellison is mostly a blocker.
Last year's sixth-round pick, Adams was used sparingly as a rookie, but rather than placing further focus on his development, the Giants drafted Evan Engram in the first round this year. As such, Adams will probably do most of his work in a special teams capacity -- assuming he makes the roster.
At 6-5, 247, with 4.64 speed, the Giants' sixth-round pick is the team's most athletic pass-catching tight end. At present, he'll vie for a role behind starter Larry Donnell and backup Will Tye, but neither is a major roadblock should Adams impress the team as a rookie. Nonetheless, even high pedigree rookie tight ends rarely contribute out of the gate, so he's more of a consideration in keeper leagues than re-draft ones.
