MVP vs. Afreeca Freecs

MVP executed its game plan to perfection in a 2-0 sweep over the Afreeca Freecs on Friday in Seoul, South Korea during the League of Legends Champions Korea wildcard playoff match.

Afreeca got off to a nice start in Game 1 with first blood just a few minutes in before both teams started to trade kills back and forth while jockeying for position. MVP grabbed a lead after 20 minutes by destroying the first tower and taking a 2-for-0 teamfight win. Just a few minutes later, Afreeca went for an early 24-minute Baron secure that netted it a 3-for-1 teamfight win after MVP over-commited to preventing the Freecs from getting the buff. Afreeca was unable to end the game on its Baron power play, leaving one Nexus tower with single digit hit points, which proved to be its downfall. With renewed energy, MVP secured a Baron kill at 33 minutes alongside a 4-for-0 teamfight win. MVP's defining moment came around 41 minutes when mid laner Ahn "Ian" Joon-hyung's Syndra singlehandedly shut down Afreeca after it stole a Baron kill from MVP, picking up a penta-kill to give MVP the 42-minute win.

While the first game was an extremely close, back-and-forth affair, Game 2 was a complete trouncing by MVP. Jungler Kim "Beyond" Kyu-seok's Elise snagged first blood just four minutes in, snowballing out of control from there. Afreeca managed to take an early 3-for-1 teamfight win that constituted roughly half of the seven total kills that it ended up tallying in this rough Game 2 showing. Teamfights were the name of the game for MVP, as it picked up fight after fight beginning from the 11-minute mark on. Afreeca tried too hard to take objectives, which just fed right into MVP's strategy of forcing advantageous teamfights to easily take a Game 2 win. While it was Ian who shut down Afreeca in Game 1, MVP's rock in Game 2 was the Jarvan IV of top laner Kang "ADD" Gun-Mo. ADD picked the rarely used champion into Nautilus for both games and handily won the matchup both times, posting a 4/1/12 KDA (kills/deaths/assists) in Game 2.

MVP is looking incredibly strong heading into its Playoffs Round 1 matchup against KT Rolster next Tuesday at 4 a.m. ET.
