DraftKings Call of Duty: Sunday Cheat Sheet

DraftKings Call of Duty: Sunday Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our DraftKings Call of Duty series.

Games (EDT)

  • 2:00 p.m. New York Subliners vs. Florida Mutineers
  • 3:30 p.m. Dallas Empire vs. Atlanta FaZe

NYS (8-13) vs. FLA (15-8)

This might be one of the hardest Sunday's to write about since DraftKings started doing Call of Duty contests. On the one hand, the Subliners/Mutineers could be one of the highest slaying series we've seen in some time. On the other, DAL/ATL sure seems poised for yet another five-game series. So which one ultimately prevails?

The pricing for Sunday's slate essentially allows you to stack either contest, so this becomes a matter of personal preference. The Mutineers make sense for more tournament-oriented lineups, as Owakening, Fero and Skyz have the slaying upside to easily post 100-plus points in an elongated series. I just have concerns something like that will actually come to fruition, mainly because of how dominate the Mutineers have looked recently. The Subliners ultra-aggressive style should put some pressure on Florida, but I'm not sure they really have the AR influence to cause chaos, particularly with how flexible the Mutineers can be on any given map.

I desperately wish we could see the maps before lineup lock, as I think the Subliners could pick and ban their way into at least one advantage, whether it be in Search and Destroy, or Domination, but without that sort of information I have to assume this should be the Mutineers winning all the way. The list of players below would be my NYS/FLA stack, but at least in cash

The list of players below would be my NYS/FLA stack, but at least in cash games, you're better off with the latter matchup

Prediction: FLA 3-1

NYS Players to Target: MackMelts ($8,600), ZooMaa ($6,800)

FLA Players to Target: Owakening ($9,000), Skyz ($7,800), Fero ($7,800), Mutineers Team ($2,400)

DAL (17-9) vs. ATL (20-3)

I'm almost convinced FaZe signed a contract which requires them to play five-game series. That's about the only sort of explanation for what we've seen over the last two weeks.

We'll see if that trend continues, but regardless of who wins, I feel more comfortable suggesting this series goes at least four games. Atlanta theoretically matches up better against the Empire, particularly with their speed and slaying power, and their coaching certainly is top tier, especially when it comes to strategic map choices. How Huke handles FaZe's tempo will be key, as the likes of Clayster and C6 won't make much of an impact, and iLLeY has been a bit too inconsistent to become a dependable Robin to Shotzzy's Batman. Someone needs to emerge as a second slayer for the Empire, and while I think FaZe is bound to lose at least one map to smart and sound play from their opposition, slaying power has to be the ultimate difference maker.

It's worth pointing out, we saw this exact same series last week in the Minnesota Home Series, with FaZe shockingly claiming a reverse sweep on the back of MajorManiak and Cellium. There's just so much tape out there for both teams at the moment though, to the point where I'm not sure we can really glean much from that matchup into this one. FaZe's goal will be to stop Shotzzy from dominating Hardpoints, and the Empire will surely try to ban out any sort of St. Petrograd. Those seem like fairly obvious suggestions, but ultimately we just don't know what will happen until picks and bans.

One of these two series is going five games, and as we've seen throughout the last couple of weeks, the series that does is generally the higher scorer. Maybe it's possible to do a ATL/FLA stack, but that just felt like too much risk with the realistic possibility that the Mutineers clean up against the Subliners.

Prediction: DAL 3-2

DAL Players to Target: Shotzzy ($9,200), Huke ($8,000)

ATL Players to Target: Cellium ($8,400), Abezy ($7,600), MajorManiak ($7,200)
