Brooks placed his name in the NCAA's transfer portal June 26 and is expected to move on from LSU, Adam Rittenberg of reports.
An ESPN top-100 recruit from the 2019 cycle, Brooks made 11 appearances as a true freshman for the undefeated Tigers, notching eight tackles and 1.5 sacks. With the departure of K'Lavon Chaisson for the NFL, Brooks was expected to take on a larger role in 2020 after new LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini converted him from safety to linebacker during spring practices. According to Brody Miller of The Athletic, Brooks cited "family" as the main factor behind his decision to leave the program, so he may be looking to sign with a school in his home state of Texas. Given his pedigree and his solid production in limited work last season, Brooks should be able to land a scholarship at nearly any school he wants.
