Officially headed for draft
Knee
December 29, 2020
Patterson (knee) announced Tuesday via his personal Twitter account that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Buffalo to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Despite sitting out Buffalo's Camellia Bowl win over Marshall on Christmas Day due to a knee issue, Patterson still managed to clear 1,000 rushing yards while scoring 19 touchdowns in just six games during the regular season. Rather than feasting on Mid-American Conference competition for another two years, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound back will take his talents to the next level. Though Patterson is a skilled runner, he didn't contribute much in the passing game during his time at Buffalo, which could lower his stock in the eyes of some scouts.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2020
2019
Few players are the engine of their offense like Patterson is for Buffalo. The Bulls ran it 68.9 percent of the time in 2019 -- the most of any non-option offense -- and Patterson was loaded up with 47 percent of those carries (280 total in the regular season). He’s back to do it again in 2020 and even though Kevin Marks is a capable complement to him, Patterson is still the focal point for Buffalo. No player averaged more yards per game against conference opponents than Patterson in 2019 (157.88) and he racked up 14 rushing scores in those eight games. The one knock to his game is a lack of passing-game production, but when Patterson’s rushing volume is this high and consistent, he remains a Top 5 running back regardless of league format.
Patterson finished fifth in the MAC in yards per game (72.36) despite seeing minimal carries the first five weeks of the season. His 14 touchdowns also ranked third in the and he showed explosiveness as well with 10 of his 183 rushes going for 20-or-more yards. He enters 2019 as the focal point of an offense that is replacing its starting quarterback and top two receivers that had a 60 percent target share. Patterson and Kevin Marks make up the MAC’s best backfield tandem and both will have viable production, but Patterson is the back to own.
