Jamie Newman
QuarterbackQB
2020 Fantasy Outlook
Newman is a graduate transfer from Wake Forest with the inside track at the starting quarterback job for the Bulldogs. USC transfer JT Daniels should also figure into the mix, though, as will redshirt junior Stetson Bennett. Newman had a standout campaign for the Demon Deacons in 2019, completing over 60-percent of his passes for 2,868 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also flashed his dual-threat ability, rushing for 574 yards and six more scores. His ability to run the football should give the Bulldogs offense more variety as compared to Jake Fromm, though certainly Newman is not as polished of a passer. However, behind a better offensive line, Newman can still be one of the better passers in the SEC this season. Read Past Outlooks
Headed to Georgia
January 10, 2020
Newman announced his decision to transfer to Georgia on Friday, Jake Rowe of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Shortly after the Bulldogs lost three-year starter Jake Fromm to the 2020 NFL Draft, they picked up a solid replacement option at quarterback in Newman, who will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer. He spent the first three years of his collegiate career with Wake Forest, playing in 12 contests during the 2019 campaign. Newman threw for 2,868 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 picks while rushing for 574 yards and six scores over 12 games.
