Returning to Eugene
February 14, 2021
Brown announced Jan. 24 that he will return to Oregon for the 2021 season, Kevin Wade of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rather than exploring his options at the professional level, Brown will take advantage of the NCAA's rule that extends all players an extra year of eligibility due to the affects of the coronavirus pandemic on the 2020 season. Brown, who will be a sixth-year senior in 2021, joined Oregon as a graduate transfer from Boston College last fall and served as the primary backup to Tyler Shough, completing 15 of 23 attempts for 164 yards and two touchdowns while adding 40 yards and two scores on the ground in spot duty. With Shough announcing Friday that he would enter the NCAA's transfer portal, Brown now seemingly finds himself in good position to open 2021 as Oregon's starting quarterback. He'll likely face his biggest challenge for the job from incoming freshman Ty Thompson.
