DFS College Basketball: Tuesday Preview (Main)

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

If a few early-morning CBB slates didn't quench your thirst today, DraftKings is offering a $10k top prize in the Pull Up Jumper for the main slate, where we'll have to take a look at several mid-majors we're not accustomed to seeing in DFS circles. There's a little overlap from today's FanDuel/early preview with a Notre Dame player I like, but we'll try to keep the focus on the six-game set offered on DraftKings.

Targets

1. Jalen Suggs, G, Gonzaga ($8,000 DK)

Suggs is the only Gonzaga player to hit 4x against BYU at Tuesday's price point in both earlier matchups this season, making him the safest play on the team with the highest implied total. Drew Timme ($8,500 DK) is also in play as the usage leader who did score 42.8 DK points against BYU earlier this year. It's tough to squeeze in both, but considering Tuesday's slate has three mid-major options priced at $8,800 or higher, there may actually be some value here on the Zags.

2. Juwan Durham, F, Notre Dame ($5,800 DK, $5,500 FD)

Durham is the perfect combination of safety and ceiling at this price point. He's hit 4x at this price in eight of his last 10 games, but the kicker here is that his lowest total in that entire span is 21.3 DK points. He also put up 41.8 DK points in a Feb. 2 blowout of the Demon Deacons. Not much has changed for Wake Forest since then, which ranks at No. 237 and No. 110 in offensive and defensive rebounding rates, respectively.

3. D'Moi Hodge, G, Cleveland State ($5,200 DK)

Hodge leads my value chart below, but I wanted to elaborate on this ultimate GPP play here. The junior has started the last 10 games for the Vikings, averages more than 25.0 mpg and sports a usage rate at 21.1 percent -- good for second on the team after Torrey Patton ($8,300 DK). The real attractive part here, however, is that Oakland allows opponents to make threes at a rate of 37.6 percent, good for No. 335 in the nation. Earlier this season, Hodge had a game where he made 10 three-pointers en route to 46 real-life points (73.3 DK points). In his last matchup against Oakland, he made four three-pointers and ended up with 30.3 DK points.

Bonus - Value Options

Given a mid-major-heavy slate, taking advantage of the RotoWire tools is more important than ever. Here are some players who see 25.0 mpg or greater, started at least their last game and own a usage rate over 20 percent (with a salary less than $5,500). I made this chart usage the filters feature on the RotoWire CBB DFS Lineup Optimizer.

Fades

1. Damian Chong Qui, G, Mount St. Mary's ($7.400 DK)

The junior guard has hit 4x at Tuesday's price point in three of his last six games, but two of them featured an overtime period that worked to his benefit. He and the Mountaineers have not yet faced Bryant this year, so there's also a bit of uncertainty. While Bryant offers a big tempo boost, it allows opponents to shot just 28.9 percent from beyond the arc, good for No. 9 in the country entering Tuesday's games. MSM also has the lowest implied total on Tuesday's main slate.

2. Hunter McIntosh, G, Elon ($7,000 DK)

McIntosh may lead his team in usage and minutes per game, but he's hit 4x at Tuesday's price point just once in his last six games. Drexel plays at an incredibly slow tempo, checking in at No. 336 in the nation in KenPom's adjusted pace metric. The game as a whole has the lowest over/under at 130.5, with Elon checking in with the second-lowest implied total. I do see some value in freshman Darius Burford ($5,500 DK), however, as he's averaged 28.2 DK points/game over his last 10 contests, compared to 22.1 for McIntosh. It's one area we can take advantage of mid-major pricing inefficiency.

3. Peter Kiss, G, Bryant ($8,800 DK)

Kiss is the third-highest priced player on the slate, but has the second-lowest season-long usage rate of any of the 10 players priced at $7,600 or higher. The game total at 133.5 is the second-lowest of the day, as Mount St. Mary's plays at the second-slowest tempo in the entire nation, trailing only Virginia (according to KenPom). MSM also has the 13th-best opponent effective field-goal percentage and allows opponents to shoot 30.0 percent from distance, good for No. 22 in the country. While options like Max Abmas ($9,000 DK) and Jalen Moore ($9,500 DK) break the bank even further, the outlier minutes and usage rates they offer makes their prices more justifiable.
