(Early) Monday Morning Thoughts

-Thursday night's game was extremely boring to say the least.  Perhaps the lone bright spot was Cameron Wake who looks like a beast for years to come.  Of course my Bills are stuck with Aaron Maybin.  I'm a PSU fan but it was beyond annoying that Matt Millen kept up with the college references the entire game.  Go draft another wide receiver.

-I know that the Patriots are well coached and thus a very disciplined team.  However, I find it hard to believe they didn't commit a single penalty until there was less than five minutes in the game.  Peyton Manning had a monster fantasy game even though he threw three interceptions (all but one of his have come on the road).  There appeared to be a lot of miscommunication between him and Jacob Tamme and Pierre Garcon at times.

-Clinton Portis getting hurt was a shocker.  If you're the Redskins, great job building your team around him, Joey Galloway and locking in Donovan McNabb (I know they'll cut him at some point).  I'll borrow Mark Stopa's term and say that Randy Moss is now "dead to me."  I don't know what to make of Vince Young other than I think he's probably not all right in the head.

-Give some credit to Jason Garrett who has the Cowboys looking like the team they were predicted to be, even without Romo.  Interesting stat line for Miles Austin – two catches, seven yards, two touchdowns.  I'd like to see some more of Tashard Choice going forward.

-Ed Reed is too much fun to watch.  His presence alone makes the Ravens a fantasy worthy start for defenses.

-Like the Robert Meachem/Lance Moore combo in New Orleans, it looks like you can flip a coin between the Rob Gronkowski/Aaron Hernandez combo in New England.

-Let's not go nuts on Blair White this week folks.  He had only one TD heading into this week and shouldn't be considered outside of extremely deep leagues going forward.

-Go away Brett Favre and Brad Childress.  This should happen some time today (I hope).  I've found my second favorite team to be whoever is playing Minnesota.  Sidney Rice looked fine to me.

-Funny stuff from the "You don't care department."  I started Joel Dreessen and benched Jermaine Gresham last week (Week 10) and benched Dreessen for Gresham yesterday.  This was in my hometown league (22 teams), I have a 9-1 record other than losing to my weasel brother for my one loss.

-Answer?  Week 14, Atlanta, Week 15, Arizona.  Week 16, Pittsburgh.  Question: who is Carolina playing over the last few weeks of the fantasy season.  If you've got a playoff spot wrapped up, take note.

-Did my Bills actually outscore the Bengals 35-0 over the second half?  How much are owners loving Fred Jackson and Steve Johnson right now?  Oh, and how wonderful is this that they're screwing up their draft pick?  If you're a Bengals fan, are you more worried about Carson Palmer's 6.7 YPA or his 10 interceptions over his last six games?

-Darrelle Revis looks extremely healthy.  There is no myth here; he's a true shutdown corner.  Be wary of starting your #1 WR against him.  Mark Sanchez has strung together three straight solid games and Santonio Holmes having a greater role in the offense is not a coincidence.

-Spent Friday and Saturday doing wine tours with the wifey at the Finger Lakes.  There was an understanding that we needed to be home well before 1:00 EST on Sunday.  Little known fact; they (the Finger Lakes) produce the second most Reisling there outside of Germany.  Come only if you like very sweet wine.

-Hypothetically speaking; 3D and I made a little scratch on the Lyoto Machida and Rampage Jackson fight, backing Rampage.  When in doubt with wagering on MMA, always take the underdog.

-Worst line of the day was from Al Michaels.  Something to the extent of "Well I think Perry Fewell might draw up a |STAR|pause|STAR| "Few" blitzes on Michael Vick tonight."

-Any word (I didn't listen to everything) on how Kurt Warner did as an announcer Sunday?

-If you watch "The Event", I'll be shocked if Thomas kills Sophia, his mother tonight.  In fact, I'd expect Thomas to be killed and Sophia to live on.

-A ton of interceptions yesterday on the defense jumping routes.  It's tough to buy time but there needs to be more double moves called if you're the offense.

-The Chad Ochocinco video game commercial with the song "You're the Best" is from what 80s movie?  I originally thought it was from the fantastic Rocky IV soundtrack but I got my 80s movies wrong…

-The Falcons and Patriots both have excellent records at 8-2 but neither scream Super Bowl contender to me.

-Congrats to Jimmie Johnson.  Five straight wins is ridiculous and you could have made some nice money in Vegas betting on him a few weeks back to win the title.

-If you have kids (like myself) or you're an aunt or uncle, "Despicable Me" is a great DVD to buy for the holidays.  It comes out December 14th and is more than watchable as an adult.

-The Miami Heat have five losses; I think I faded them.  Of course, I also backed the Houston Rockets so we'll call it even.

-If you're keeping track, the Packers have an 85-10 scoring advantage over their last three games.  Methinks that's pretty good, although I think they will need a legit running back to go all the way.

-Justin Blackmon would be a perfect fit for Sam Bradford, no?  He (Blackmon) needs to be in more Heisman conversations.

-Anything I've forgotten about this week?  Chastise (more likely) or praise me in the comments and have fun with the tryptophan on Thursday.
