Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Devontae Calvin Cacok was born in Chicago to Harry and Rose Lewis Cacok. He grew up in Georgia and developed a primary interest in football but began playing basketball in eighth grade after a fractured wrist ended his football season. Cacok attended Alpharetta High School. He experienced a seven-inch growth spurt as a sophomore and subsequently joined his high school varsity basketball team. As a senior, he averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds per contest and led Alpharetta to the regional title. Cacok spent four years playing for the UNC Wilmington Seahawks and in his junior year he lead Division I in rebounding. He was primarily an observer during his freshman campaign, playing 29 games and averaging 9.1 minutes per contest. Cacok was handed a starting role during his sophomore season and subsequently blossomed, averaging 12.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He also led the nation with an eye-popping 80.0 field-goal percentage. The Seahawks posted a 29-6 record and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Though the team lost in the first round to Virginia, Cacok impressed with 12 points and 15 boards. The following season featured great turnover for the squad with the departure of coach Kevin Keatts and many key players. Cacok took on a larger scoring role as a junior, averaging 17.7 points. He also notched 13.5 rebounds per game, the top mark in Division I. At the end of the season, Cacok was selected First-Team All-CAA. He duplicated the accomplishment during his senior campaign when he averaged 15.2 points and 12.3 rebounds while shooting 59.0 percent from the field. He also led the nation with 22 double-doubles during the regular season. He wasn't selected during the 2019 NBA Draft but signed shortly afterwards with the Los Angeles Lakers to play in the 2019 NBA Summer League.
