2019 Fantasy Outlook
Knox joined the Knicks with relatively high expectations as the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. His upside as a scorer is obvious, given his athletic 6-foot-9 frame and nice shooting touch, but Knox struggled with efficiency as a rookie. He shot just 37.0 percent from the field on 12.2 attempts per game, 34.3 percent from deep on 4.9 attempts and 71.7 percent from the charity stripe on 3.0 attempts. While he racked up 11 games with at least 20 points, he also tallied 27 games in the single-digits. But it's important to consider how much of the offensive gameplan fell on him as a 19-year-old, as he led the Knicks in total minutes played (2,158) and total points (963). Heading into this season, Knox will have more help surrounding him, not to mention some presumed development over the summer. He figures to be the Knicks' starting small forward, so he should have no issues finding shots. Whether or not he can be efficient will be the ultimate determiner in his fantasy value. Personal Bio

Kevin Knox II was born in Tampa Bay in 1999. Knox comes from a family of athletes. His father, Kevin Sr., was a wide receiver for Florida State, a member of their 1993 national championship team, and an NFL player for one season with the Arizona Cardinals. The younger Kevin Knox spent four years playing high school basketball at Tampa Catholic High School, where he averaged 30.1 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game as a junior, leading his team to district and regional titles as well as an appearance in the state semifinals. As a senior, he averaged 28.5 points and 11.3 rebounds a game, leading the Crusaders to a 25-6 record during his senior season -- including a runner-up finish in the state championship game. He moved on to the University of Kentucky, averaging 15.6 points per game in his only season as a Wildcat. Knox is a dedicated Fortnite player, and he competed against the CLG Fortnite team in the inaugural Newegg CLG Fortnite Challenge at Madison Square Garden in 2019. College/International Summary

When Knox joined the University of Kentucky squad in 2017-18, the team had few returning players. This situation gave the 6-foot-9 freshman forward an opportunity to immediately play big minutes. Knox led the Wildcats with 15.6 points to go along with 5.4 rebounds per game. He hit 44.5 percent of his shots from the field. Knox had a pair of double-doubles, including 16 points and 11 rebounds in a win over LSU. He scored a career-high 34 points, including five 3-pointers, in a win over West Virginia. The team went 10-8 in SEC play, but turned on the jets in the SEC Tournament. Knox averaged 14.7 points and 6.0 rebounds as the Wildcats won the conference tournament. Knox was named SEC Rookie of the Year and to the All-Conference First Team. Kentucky advanced to the Sweet 16 and the forward had 25 points in a first round win over Davidson. After the season, the freshman declared for the 2018 draft.

2018

Knox dressed in 75 games and started 57 as a rookie after being selected ninth overall in the 2018 draft by the Knicks. The 6-foot-9, 215-pound teenager proved capable of slotting in at either forward position while flashing strong finishing skills on the interior and the ability to stretch the floor. Knox finished with per game averages of 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He shot 37 percent from the field and made 1.7 of his 4.9 three-point attempts per game for a 34.3 percent mark from deep. Knox sprained his ankle against the Celtics on Oct. 20 but was able to return from the injury on Nov. 5 and didn't miss another game all season. On Dec. 1, Knox delivered 26 points, four boards, one steal and one block during an impressive home win over the Bucks. That performance kick off a strong month of December, for which he won Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. Knox poured in a season-high 31 points, plus seven rebounds, against the 76ers on Jan. 13. Despite his prominent role with the Knicks, Knox was originally left out of the NBA's Rising Stars Challenge at the NBA's All-Star Weekend before being added to the roster as an injury replacement. He contributed 11 points in the game, going 5-for-9 from the field in 16 minutes. Knox finished the season with three double-doubles, 11 performances with at least 20 points, and seven games with nine or more rebounds. On the defensive end, he recorded at least one steal in 35 contests and at least one block in 21 outings.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
In just one year of college ball at Kentucky, Knox immediately grabbed national attention for his ability to score the ball. In 37 starts, the forward posted an average of 15.8 points, while shooting 44.5 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from the three-point line. He demonstrated the ability to knock down shots from all levels of the court and that should translate well to the NBA game. Knox also has fantastic size and athleticism for the forward positions, which should allow him to get on the court right away and matchup with opposing players at the position without much issue. That potential for early playing time is further magnified by the fact that he's joining a Knicks team who will be without the services of superstar big man Kristaps Porzingis for at least the first few months of the season. That immediately suggests the Knicks won't be in playoff contention and could push the staff to give Knox big minutes out of the gate. While Knox is only 19 years old and will likely make plenty of mistakes early on, his potential to develop into an explosive scorer and a solid rebounder brings him into contention for dynasty leagues, as well as a riskier late-round guy in standard leagues for those betting on a quick transition. Still, with a lack of defensive statistics and the fact that he's almost guaranteed to struggle during stretches of the season considering his age, Fantasy owners will likely need to be patient with Knox.
