Pelicans Defeat Trail Blazers, 128-115
The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the host Portland Trail Blazers, 128-115, at Moda Center on Friday.

New Orleans won each of the first three quarters in this game by at least five points apiece, giving them a wire-to-wire victory. The key stretch was a 12-0 run to end the third quarter, giving the Pelicans a game-high 19-point lead. That was too much for the Trail Blazers to overcome, never getting the game within nine points after that. The Pelicans ended up shooting 54 percent from the field and 53 percent from three-point range while holding the Trail Blazers to 46 percent from the field and 37 percent from long range. In addition, New Orleans out-assisted Portland, 36-20.

The Pelicans (24-32) were led by Zion Williamson, who tallied 25 points, four rebounds and three assists. Brandon Ingram tallied 16 points, four rebounds and six assists. Jrue Holiday collected 20 points, two rebounds, nine assists and four steals. Lonzo Ball finished with 15 points, five rebounds and seven assists while Derrick Favors had eight points and 12 rebounds. Josh Hart led the bench with 13 points and 12 boards.

The Trail Blazers (25-32) were led by C.J. McCollum and his 27 points, six rebounds and 10 assists. Hassan Whiteside collected 19 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and six blocks. Carmelo Anthony amassed 20 points and five rebounds while Trevor Ariza totaled 13 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Gary Trent Jr generated 15 points and three assists.

Both teams are off until Sunday, with Portland returning home to face the Detroit Pistons and New Orleans remaining on the road to play the Golden State Warriors.
