Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Rojas had been one of the Phillies' most interesting prospects for a handful of seasons, but he didn't appear to be on the threshold of making a difference for the big-league club last offseason, as he'd reached Double-A for 60 games in 2022 but posted a forgettable 100 wRC+. He was sent back to the same level to open 2023, and his wRC+ jumped to 131 in 76 games, the product of a .306/.361/.484 slash line. That performance earned him a call-up at the start of the second half, and he didn't look back, hitting .302/.342/.430 while starting 40 of the final 72 games. He also went 14-of-15 on the basepaths. While the emergence of a young prospect with speed, contact ability and an excellent glove in center is undeniably exciting for the Phillies, the team pumped the brakes on the hype train by indicating he'll have to fight for the center field job this spring. It took a .410 BABIP to get him to his strong rookie slash line, and his 3.0 percent walk rate and 25.6 percent strikeout rate make for a very worrying combination. He also managed a pitiful 28.3 percent hard-hit rate. Rojas' speed and defense prop up his floor in both fantasy and real life, but his bat may not be ready quite yet despite his 2023 numbers. Still favorite for center field job
The Phillies are still leaning toward opening the season with Rojas as their center fielder, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Rojas is hitting just .156/.174/.267 this spring after the Phillies asked him to make major adjustments to his swing. Despite the results, hitting coach Kevin Long said of Rojas that "I really, really like what I'm seeing from him." If the Phils ultimately decide Rojas would be best off going to the minors for a while, they would slide Brandon Marsh over to center field and put Whit Merrifield in left. However, it sounds like the club still prefers Rojas' elite defense in center, with the hope that he'll make strides at the plate. Perhaps telling is that Marsh has yet to play an inning this spring in center field after returning a week ago from knee surgery. The Phillies are likely to make a decision on their outfield later this week.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Using more of two-strike approach
Rojas is now using a variation of his two-strike swing for every pitch on a recommendation from Trea Turner, reports, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Turner noted during camp that the young outfielder was "holding his mechanics better" in a two-strike approach and encouraged Rojas to broaden the usage of that swing. Rojas struggled during spring training with a .478 OPS, but the coaching staff was encouraged by his mechanical progress. The 23-year-old will begin the campaign as Philadelphia's primary center fielder, and it will be difficult to live up to the .302/.342/.430 slash line he posted in 59 games as a rookie last year.
