2024 Fantasy Outlook
Rooker went from being designated for assignment by the Royals in November of 2022 to becoming a bona fide breakout slugger for the Athletics in 2023. He was one of only 29 major leaguers to reach the 30-homer plateau and he posted the 14th-highest OPS (.817) among all qualified American League hitters. Rooker strikes out often and is probably never going to be a good source for batting average, but his power stroke sure appears to be a bankable asset. He finished in the 93rd percentile last year in barrel percentage and was in the 91st percentile in hard-hit rate. The 29-year-old is going to have to make a lot of noise on his own as part of a mostly punchless Oakland offense, but that poor supporting cast at least assures him everyday at-bats in a fruitful lineup spot. Blasts three-run homer Tuesday
Rooker went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and an additional run in a Cactus League tie with the Rangers on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The taste of offensive success, which was highlighted by a sixth-inning homer with Zack Gelof and JJ Bleday aboard, was a much-needed respite from Rooker's spring struggles. The 29-year-old's round tripper was his first since Feb. 27, and he now has back-to-back two-hit efforts after a 2-for-21 funk that had encompassed his previous eight games.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could fit with Blue Jays
Rooker is "believed to be available in trade talks and would make sense as a name for the Blue Jays to explore," Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Nicholson-Smith also lists Rooker's teammate with the Athletics, Ramon Laureano, as a possible option for Toronto as they seek a right-handed hitting outfielder. Rooker has clubbed 16 home runs as a first-time All-Star for Oakland this season, but nearly all of that production came during a huge April when he posted a 1.245 OPS with nine long balls. He has just a .646 OPS since then and has seen his playing time dwindle.

2018
Rooker flashed impressive power at Triple-A in 2022, logging a .289/.395/.649 slash line, 28 home runs, 88 RBI and 27 doubles in 81 contests. In the majors, he logged 16 games with the Royals and the Padres to little effect. mainly serving in a reserve role. Entering his age-28 season, Rooker is beginning to look like a Quadruple-A type of player -- he tears up Triple-A but can't put it all together after major-league call-ups. He was waived by the Royals and claimed by the Athletics in November, so a spot on the 40-man roster should put him in contention for a starting spot in the Oakland outfield or as the designated hitter heading into 2023, though it's far from a guarantee he can secure anything more than a short-side platoon role.
