Orozco came over from the Mariners at the end of August as part of the deal for International League MVP Ben Gamel. A thick right-hander with a lively fastball in the low-to-mid 90s, the 19-year-old Orozco flashed his strikeout potential in the Arizona League in 2016, fanning 63 batters in 48.2 innings. Still building up arm strength, Orozco pitched partly out of the bullpen and partly in the starting rotation. It remains to be seen where he will end up, but his emerging changeup and slider should give him the chance to start, at least for now. An assignment to Low-A Charleston could be aggressive, as Orozco posted a 4.07 ERA last season, though he is polished for his age and possesses a smooth, clean delivery.
