2024 Fantasy Outlook
Profar was a solid offensive piece for the Padres in 2022 with a 111 wRC+ in 152 contests, but he scuffled to a .242/.321/.368 slash line between the Rockies and Padres last season. He then re-signed with San Diego on a one-year deal for 2024, and the offseason departures of Juan Soto and Trent Grisham leave plenty of playing time in the outfield. Profar has a limited ceiling given his career .705 OPS and below-average power and speed, but he could be a volume contributor in deeper fantasy leagues. That's assuming, however, he can maintain a regular spot in the lineup. Read Past Outlooks
Provides timely hit in win
Profar went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and three RBI in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
A day after being singled out by Dodgers catcher Will Smith for being irrelevant, Profar showed his relevancy by roping a bases-loaded double off the wall in center field to put the Padres up 6-3 in the seventh. Profar has now hit safely in 10 of 11 games dating back to April 2. Overall, he's slashing .321/.424/.536 with two homers, 13 RBI, seven runs and a 9:12 BB:K in 66 plate appearances.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Starting role in jeopardy?
Tommy Pham and the Padres are negotiating a one-year contract, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, which endangers Profar's starting job in left field.
ANALYSIS
Profar recently dealt with an ankle injury but traveled with the Padres to South Korea and played six innings in left field during an exhibition against Team Korea on Sunday. The 31-year-old has been penciled in as San Diego's starting left fielder since being signed in mid-February, but the potential addition of Pham could bump Profar to a reserve role.

Welcome to the oldest 29 year old player you have ever met. Profar made his major league debut in 2012, and just when it appeared he had found a home in San Diego, he declined his player option to become a free agent. Profar no longer has multi-positional versatility as his limited defensive skills put him in the outfield full-time last season. He remains a high contact hitter who will accept his walks but has not hit over .245 in the last three full seasons of play despite the disciplined approach at the plate. He signed with Colorado in the offseason, which should boost his offense and could give him regular playing time in the outfield. He was very recently 1B/2B/OF eligible in San Diego, so perhaps the Rockies will be willing to give him some time at first base or the infield in 2023. It is unlikely he regularly plays a middle infield position again, particularly second base with the premium on defense reset with the rule changes.
