FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Targets

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Wednesday's DFS action starts at 2:10 p.m EDT with an all-day slate that features the Pirates at the White Sox in the leadoff spot. It's important to note there's an earlier start time for the main slate of games; that slate starts at 6:37 p.m. EDT. There are 11 games to choose from, so let's take a look at some options.

Pitching

Dinelson Lamet, SD vs. SEA ($9,300): Lamet has averaged 39 fantasy point per game this season, the same as Jacob deGrom. The difference? Lamet is $1,400 cheaper so he offers more salary cap space for picking hitters. He's been dominant in a small sample at home this season, posting a 2.01 ERA over 22.1 innings that includes 30 strikeouts. Lamet had a 60-burger back on August 9 against the Diamondbacks, showing the type of upside he has. Seattle is a good matchup for Lamet as they have the seventh-lowest wOBA (.305) against right-handed pitching.

Dakota Hudson, STL vs. KC ($7,300): Hudson is likely the best value for tonight facing the Royals at home. Kansas City is a solid matchup, as they strike out 24.5 percent of the time (11th highest) and their .302 wOBA is the fifth worst against right-handed pitching. Hudson has a career 2.52 ERA at home in his short career, holding opposing batters to a .217 batting average. While Hudson's pitch count has been limited to this point, he should see an increased workload in his fourth start.

Top Targets

Cody Bellinger, LAD at SF ($4,200): There isn't a hotter hitter in the game right now, as Bellinger had home runs in four of his last five games heading into Tuesday. He had a .423 wOBA against right-handed pitching last season and it's a decent matchup against Kevin Gausman. The Dodgers also lead baseball with a team .365 wOBA against right-handed pitching, making the whole lineup a stacking option.

Austin Meadows, TB vs. BAL ($3,600): It's been an easy call to fade Asher Wojciechowski this season given that he still has a problem giving up home runs. He's allowed six this season in only 22.1 innings, and has allowed a .386 wOBA to left-handed hitting over his career. This puts all of the lefty Rays in play with Meadows being at the top of the list. He should be hitting in his normal leadoff spot after getting Tuesday off and had a .396 wOBA against right-handed pitching last season.

Value Bats

Marcus Semien, OAK at TEX ($2,800): The Athletics are favorites (-150) on the road in a game featuring an over/under of 9.5, suggesting they should make it to at least five runs. Semien should be in the leadoff spot as usual and crushed southpaws last season to the tune of a .388 wOBA. In his short career, Kolby Allard has given up a .350 wOBA to right-handed hitters at home.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC at DET ($2,700): Schwarber is at a nice salary for a lefty cleanup hitter facing a right-handed pitcher with a 9.53 ERA this season. He had a .367 wOBA against right-handed pitching and Michael Fulmer appears to be a disaster right now. He's coming back from Tommy John surgery and it may be a while before he's back to the pitcher he was before the injury.

Stacks To Consider

Dodgers vs. Gausman: Bellinger, Corey Seager ($3,700), Max Muncy ($3,400), Joc Pederson ($2,800)

Against right-handed pitching, Seager has a career .378 wOBA, Muncy had a .372 wOBA last season and Pederson had a .377 wOBA last season as well. Despite being on the road the Dodgers are a -240 favorite in a game featuring an over/under of 8.5, suggesting they should score at least five runs.

A's at Allard: Semien ($2,800), Stephen Piscotty ($2,900), Ramon Laureano ($2,800), Khris Davis ($2,400)

It's tough to quit Davis at this salary, especially knowing he had a .383 wOBA against left-handed pitching last season. Piscotty could be in the Value Bats section given his salary and that he has a career .369 wOBA against lefties. Laureano has been hot this season, and the case for Semien has already been made.
